Rob, Mary and Squad!
Mary opened the june discussion by examining the term 'righteous'.
Quite right (!) as it is a strange one in English - even more so
in my tongue where it has a biblical ring to it (Say Magnus, what's
the Swedish version, and Hugo (are you there?), the Danish?),
something the prophets possessed when they wild-eyed returned from
the desert to set the straying people right. But generally I
agree with Rob; knowledge won't automatically result in right
actions. After all, the gist of the MOQ is that there is no such
"right" measuring rod, only the hierarchy of rising right/good/moral.
And it is here that MOQ's power reveals itself. How for instance
killing and destruction is a highly valued act in war, but a crime in
peace. A riddle in SOM's morality.

Well, what was the righteousness of old? It was knowing God's
will and as the Semitic gods generally represented (things have
changed) social value it was mostly the good of the tribe/people at
the cost of the individual (greed, indulgence). The reason it sounds
old-fashioned is because Intellectual value has become the main focus
since the Greek revolution (interrupted by the Dark Age). Slaying of
the unjust and destruction of golden idols (money) is not
instrumental for economic and individual liberty.

For David (Buchanan). Thanks for the welcoming words at the Moq
discuss, yet I have withdrawn from there. I'll have to limit myself
to stay relatively "sane", and am grateful to Horse for
reminding the participants of its (MD's) objective.
