Dear Mary,
Well, Darwinism continues to be attacked, & its adherants split up into
factions...
The level of intellect is high enough for science to be little more than
a form of entertainment: Mandelbrot sets were supposed to herald a
revolution in science, but I know of no practical applications, though
I've ordered videos of Mandelbrot & Julia sets that are quite
mesmerizing. In "The Meme Machine," Susan Blackmore defends the concept
of Memetics, & also is quite open about her sex life. This is science?
                                My two cents,
                                        Jeff
