MAGGIE: >And how is this rise of fundamentalism related to the conflict that
>expressed itself in the world trade center destruction?

ERIN: Yeah I think American's fear of fundamentalism in
the Middle East are making them more fundamentalist.
Like I said if you are not judeo-christian I think you
are viewed as unpatriotic even though we give lip service
to religous tolerance.
I thought that the country was divided about taking
God out of the pledge of allegience but according to NEWSWEEK's
statistics
"The politics of the pledge are clear: embrace God, fast. There
was overwhelming (87-9) support for including "under God" the
pledge. By a 54-36 percent margin, those polled said there
was no reason for government to "avoid promoting religion".

I think the statistic pre 9-11 would be different don't you?

Squonk:
"There are areas of the federation that are moving rapidly towards an ever
extreme religious fundamentalism, and there is a resulting pressure upon
federal government to accommodate it in the name of individual freedom."

Erin: Jihad vs Crusade .... Scary!!!!

"The biblical God is patriarchal in tone and the subjugation of women
explicit. "

I would like to see the expressions after suggesting putting
"under Goddess" in the pledge of allegience
