Here's a very similar one I picked up from an episode of Columbo...
Imagine that you have some bags (it doesn't matter how many bags so
long as there are more than one). In all of the bags are gold coins, except
one, which contains coins made from fool's gold which are indistiguishable
from the real gold coins, except that they weigh one ounce heavier.
There is also a penny scale (this is the kind of scale in which you put
what you want to weigh on a platform, put a penny into the slot, and then
the scale gives you a card with the reading of the weight of whatever is on
the platform). You have only one penny and can, therefore, get only one
weight reading... How do you find the fool's gold?
