Hi Horse, LilaQs

<<<<The charter belongs to the MOQ_DISCUSS mailing list which isn't a
WHO but a WHAT. It has been called into being by the Steering
Committee - which is not some mysterious cabal (as at least one member
seems to imply) but a bunch of people who provide and maintain the site
and facilities which enable discourse on the MoQ.>>>>

Ahem! And who chooses the Steering Committee?
I'm not calling for a revolution here, but wonder to what
all that discussion about the "Intellectual value of democracy" refers.

This post is an experiment, using cross-references to the archive at
http://alt.venus.co.uk/hypermail/moq_discuss
The way this is set up right now is a pain. Postings don't get archived
with their URL until after they are sent out to the list.
I had to browse the site and look for the references to cite. If we
could somehow get this stamped onto each item as it is mailed out to the
membership, it would save having to retrieve it from the web site.

<<<Magnus has produced a Java based search mechanism for
old posts from the Lila Squad and some of the MOQ_DISCUSS posts. For
what you suggest I would think that a reasonably sophisticated database
engine and interface would be necessary but I could be wrong. If anyone
on the list has the knowledge, time, energy and motivation to
investigate and/or implement this then I would be glad to hear from them
as, I imagine, would the rest of the committee.>>>

I'm grateful to Magnus for giving us this, and hope he didn't invest too
much effort, but I have found the search engine to perform so poorly
that the resource is of little practical use.
It appears that the http://alt.venus.co.uk/hypermail/moq_discuss archive
is using "off the shelf" automatic administration software. Maybe
someone knows of a search tool which could be easily added.

Regards to all,

Jonathan (trying to be constructive)
