David and Squad,
Perhaps it's just semantics but I thought I would comment on some of your
statements. I have not been reading all the posts recently so please disregard
if I rehash some old points.
PoQ = Pattern of Quality

I think there is an important point that your description of the mythos - logos
( Social PoQ - Intellectual PoQ) overlooks; While without a Social PoQ an
Intellectual PoQ would not have arisen*, the Intellectual PoQ is not "embedded"
it the Social PoQ. The Intellectual PoQ represents a fundamentally different
kind of Quality. Consider the Computer hardware - software metaphor used in
Lila; You can describe all the voltage levels in memory you want and never see
the novel in the word processing program. Certainly without the physical
computer hardware you couldn't have software but the Quality the software is
used to convey is simply inexpressible in terms of hardware. What voltage level
is required to express Anger? Fundamental Christianity? Hope? I submit that
there is none.

You state that that "world views" change with time but that the mythos remains.
You also state that "The intellect doesn't really ever change the mythos by
itself." I find both of these statements very confusing. What do you mean by
Mythos? I submit that each PoQ has the ability to influence all other PoQ.
Certainly the Biological PoQ can effect the Physical MoQ (examples: Earth's
atmosphere, Animal Dens, the Great Barrier Reef). The Biological PoQ can effect
the Intellectual PoQ (Beethoven might be decomposing but he's is certainly not
written any new symphonies that i've heard of). So why do you think that the
Intellectual PoQ does not influence the Social PoQ that it arose from? I think
one of the points of the MoQ is that ALL PoQ evolve and that they can definitely
effect each other.
* Hmmm... What about a planet where an intelligent life form existed (one
processing an understanding of abstract concepts such as math) that was
planetary in size and was the only living thing that had ever existed on the
planet? Wonder what Pirsig would say about that? Reminds me of the section of
Lila that asks "If only one human existed could they be insane?" However I
digress.
