Anybody got any ideas as to how to fix a starter
solenoid without destroying it as one takes it apart?

if its sealed (as most are), then you will not be able to fix it. luckily
though, starter solenoids are very inexpensive, only $5 or so, at least the
last time i bought one, which has been a few years now.
