Then I presume you consider Mark Maxwell to be a happening that has no
particular identity that lasts over time and no self-awareness. Is that
correct?
I have a question about the self/illusory self issue. Somebody put a quote I believe mark "The universe may or may not be deterministic, but no one who wears
a seat belt believes that it is. " It seems like that you could subsitute "you may or may not be a self" for the first part.
Isn't self- preservation act stem from a belief in self? Is this good belief then?
On the other hand there are behaviors like at the end of ZAMM where he lets Chris keep his helmet off while riding a motorcycle and it paints it as this very liberating experience.
I am wondering about the different kinds of freedom. Pirsig paints some of the hippie ones as self-destructive and low quality. Are other freeing acts like jumping out of a plane and stuff the same idea?
So exactly what would the MOQ say about self-preservation and how would it distinguish a freeing experience that is high quality and a freeing experience that is low quality.
