    David,

Rorty wrote one time that he used to teach a philosophy of religion course at Princeton. He said he used to teach Paul Tillich with John Dewey because he couldn't really see a difference between the two's conceptions of religion.

Along those lines, I have a book right now called Pragmatism, Neo-Pragmatism, and Religion : Conversations with Richard Rorty (ed. by Charley D. Hardwick & Donald A. Crosby) that pulls out some of the consequences of Rorty's philosophy with concern to religion. Very good stuff. In particular, there's a great piece by David L. Hall (who also wrote my favorite exposition of Rorty) on pragmatism and mysticism.

    Matt
