Dear Matt Poot,
Well if you really want to hear from me, even if I am not interested... (as
your wrote 12 Feb 2004 23:05:29 +0000):
I much prefer e-mail (in English, which is not my mother-tongue, even if my
working environment -the European Cultural Foundation- is partly English and
I do speak and write it rather fluently) to chatting, phoning or other
direct means of discussion. I prefer to prepare my contributions to a
discussion at times that are most convenient to me and to be able to take
the time to look things up and to think a bit longer before I write some
things. (The last I also have in Dutch.) You don't have to reply immediately
when you e-mail (which -potentially- allows for a higher quality discussion)
and there is less superficial, 'small talk' necessary to keep the contact
open, so it can be more efficient.
With friendly greetings,
Wim
