Platt,
I understand your fears of Stalinism, fears you might have noticed I share, but the "secular humanism" I was talking about is nothing so particular that it has an official newsletter or group meetings. I'm still taking secular humanism to be coextensive with liberalism. Maybe a bad choice of words, but I picked it up from religious fundies who labeled us liberals with it. Others have adopted it, or maybe it happened the other way around, but in the context of the education debate, where I picked it up and where we started using it in the current little dialogue, it is used fairly loosely, so far as I've ever seen.
But no matter. Its not really a big deal. As should be evident from my post, secular humanism/liberalism should be distinguished from Stalinism and Fascism.
