I voted for the reading program and I see no great differences from
our usual conduct. We have gone off on tangents, bickered about
small points and tried to sell our pet ideas. The one great
objection is that it will take so long; almost the whole year
something we knew very well. But it will be no disaster if the
project is abandoned and moved to the MD. Another list -
moderated or not - for the sole purpose of reading LILA won't recruit
enough people IMHO.
David Buchanan will be disappointed of course, but if we prostrate
ourselves :-] he will be generous enough to forgive and stay. He is
a locomotive, and that's no mocking. I direct everybody's attention
to his March 5 (Random Patterns) message to the MD. Print it and
frame it!
Accordingly I vote for no.3
