 Hey all,

First, I must apologize to Marco, Diana and all else here. I am in bit of a
crunch at this time of year and I missed the post where this topic was
announced (and pretty much everything else for the past few weeks). I just
checked in today and found this and Marco's post from yesterday under the
other heading.... sorry about the delay. And let me apologize in advance
for the brevity of this post... I'm writing this on the fly, but I'll try to
post something more complete and thought out in the next few days....

DIANA:
Richard, you must have had something in mind when you suggested the topic...

RICK:
Well.... yes and no. It just so happened that on the day the 'call for
topics' was issued I had been waiting outside the office of a friend who had
left out in his waiting room an educational journal which featured an
article about the value of visual models in teaching complex systems. When
I saw the call for topics I thought that nobody seemed to be into
criticizing the MoQ (big surprise) so I wanted to put up something a little
less contentious. I thought about that article I read and poof....

How could visual models aide in our understanding of the MoQ?

I recalled Pirsig's simple diagram from the SODV, and the more elaborate
Quantonics "chart".... I also recall reading something in the forum about a
"vector" model of the MoQ (although I've had some trouble finding the source
of that one)... there was one that replaced Pirsig's stacked boxes with
concentric circles.... And Anthony McWatt's "time v. DQ" graph in his
thesis.....

I was hoping to just get us talking about visual representations of the MoQ
that help advance our understanding of the system and could possibly have
great value in educating the uninitiated....

More to come.
