Hey Again,

Have to admit, I'm getting pretty lost in all this. I think we've managed to identify the problem and everyone is looking for a "solution"... which is great... but I don't think that everyone has agreed on exactly where the problem lies.

Feel free to correct me, but to sum up the discussion as I've been reading it:

1) MF posts were dying, MD posts were insanely prolific

2) We labeled the MF as suffering from static stagnance and the MD as suffering from a lack of static latches

3) We agreed that there needs to be more Dynamic in the MF and more static in the MD

4) General consensus seems to be that "One List to Rule Them All" is not what we want - some prefer the MF, others the MD, depending on our schedules and such

And then the discussion kind of explodes several directions. I'm reading that the MF is going to close, that the MF stays and we're thinking of opening two other lists to possible use, that we should use a message-board interface, that we should use a newsgroup interface...

Just a thought - maybe we ought to decide *exactly* *what* we are going to do before we start lengthy (often technical) posts on *how* we are going to do it? I realize that a discussion of methods often includes the pros and cons of implementing them, but I feel like we've got two or three static latches competing for dominance before their time. Pardon the metaphor, but it's like debating where the third rung of a ladder is when you haven't managed to get your foot onto the second one yet.

Maybe I've missed a crucial decision somewhere?

         Later,
           Kenny
