MF LIST STUFF

Hi Folks

I've been refraining from the current discussion so far as I wanted to see what everyone had to say, not
because (as some... OK one... would have it) I don't care about the moq_focus list or the web site in
general. I care very much about them (and moq_discuss) - if I didn't they wouldn't still be going 'cos I'd
have gone when Diana did.
The web site is currently being completely overhauled and rewritten (not a small task) in a format that I
can get to grips with. To be honest, at the moment I'm not too bothered about a couple of links being
dead or the MF discussion list not being up to date. These are minor things that will be sorted out soon.

The MF list was started for a number of reasons some of which are:

1) To focus on a single subject for a defined period
2) To reduce the number of posts each day
3) To provide a 'static latch'

It was hoped initially that the monthly discussions would be summarised but unfortunately this didn't
happen and so point 3 above didn't happen. However I don't believe that it was a failure because there
were many good discussions to be had in the two years that it was active.

Some people didn't like the fact that it was moderated but as less than ten percent of the posts that were
submitted were rejected (mainly for reasons other than relevance) and most of those were passed when
resubmitted this was hardly a problem and for the most part the rest of the rules were adhered to.

Anyway, for various reasons the list seems to have ground to a halt and we need to find some way of
reviving it. We've had a number of suggestions this last month and I've been making a few notes from the
posts that I've received as to possible ways of doing this but as it's New Years Eve and I'm off out to a
party in about 10 minutes I shall have to continue tomorrow - hangover permitting.

(What? Did I hear someone doubt my commitment to MOQ.ORG because I have a life outside of it and
the audacity to have FUN sometimes. Tsk. Tsk. )

So have a Happy New Year everyone, enjoy whatever you're doing tonight (New Year or not) and let's see
if we can sort this temporary problem out in the very near future.

I'm off to my party - yeeharr!
