Maggie, Tor and MF

After the first week of this topic, I've seen two posts that really
talked to me. Maggie and Tor both came to this conclusion:

Maggie:
> IF "rationality" is the highest (most prevalent) development of the
> intellectual level, then any new level is an escape from rationality.

Tor:
> - People/whatever influenced by a 5th level will probably seem quite
> irrational.

I'd like to continue on this path for a while. Many people, on this list
but also others, claim that they think and talk about metaphysics and
philosophy "just for the fun of it". It doesn't really affect their lives
much. They say things like:

"I disagree with you completely and think you talk b-s. But hey, I'm
sure you're a nice guy and if you came to visit, I'd buy you a beer."

I don't think I'll ever understand this kind of thinking. To me,
metaphysics is about reality and we should be able to talk about *all*
aspects of reality using metaphysics, including bar discussions after
2 pitchers of beer. What I read between the lines in phrases like the
one above is:

"I think it's fun to talk about metaphysics and philosophy and try to
generalize as much as I can to make me feel in control, but it doesn't
apply to *me*, because I have free will and can't be generalized."

I'm not trying to be mean here. What I'm saying is exactly what Maggie
and Tor are saying. That in situations like these, when we're being
irrational and exercising our so called "free will", we're knocking
on the door to the 5:th level. We're still totally dependent on the
intellectual level, we're talking and exchanging ideas. We could just
as well just confuse the 5:th level with DQ, there's no way we could
ever intellectually be certain about that. But we might some day be
5:th level-wise certain about it.
