Dear Pi,
I'm a slow thinker. I need to chew on ideas before I come to a
conclusion. Sometimes I never reach a conclusion. Maybe MoQ will help
with that, maybe not.
To address your final paragraph, I once asked a wise man for a reason to go
on living. He offered me "because there are lessons to learn and gifts to
give". These words resonated, and I try to keep them in mind.
On the necessities, I try to determine what exactly is necessary. I have
food and a place to live, and I am grateful. Other than that, I ask what
do I really need? (I have a big addiction to books.) But how I would
behave if I lost my food and home, I really wonder.
I do both these things very poorly, so I've added ritual. I light three
candles. One for 'love and trust, and peace and wisdom, for me and all my
brothers and sisters'. The second for 'empathy, compassion and hope
throughout the world'. And the third I light for me, for help to make my
painting a type of prayer.
I also try to live with the command, "Know thyself!".
But all too often my attention to all these things is/are lost.
