Hello,
Often, I find myself wondering about money. Why do I need it? Why does it
exist? What does money do for me, and for other humans?
These questions can be answered simply, if you look at things from a very
"objective" sort of view, but really, provides only false answers. I need
money, to acquire goods and services from others. Money exists, for the
purpose of trading and bartering between individuals and organizations.
Money gets me the things i "need" to survive and thrive, and for others, can
provide a means to establish themselves in a community, further themselves
socially, or to simply advance their well-being (whether it is buying a
book, or a couch, etc)
Sure, these answers are completely valid. Money does all of these things,
and more. It is the other functions of money, which completely overshadow
any possible benefit that money is doing, or ever has done for the true good
of any one individual, group, organization, country, or society.
Think of what money is today. Money, is not necessarily a physical entity,
in the example of trading on the various stock exchanges of the world. The
money used, is imagined , and stored on computer databases. Fortunes are
made, and lost , all with little control by those who are not already
economically influential.
To get to the point of what I am trying to say, money , in todays society ,
has a primary function of increasing the influence of those who already
posess* it. If you have money, your actions are less limited, and your
influence is increased, due to that fact. If you lack money, than.....too
bad for you. right?
* This is the important thing to notice. Money, is a material concept,
proving only to sustain situations which increase the importance, and
dependance upon material status. running out of time now. If we really
want to wonder about if money is good or not, why dont we take a good look
at what money DOES for us all. as a whole. All it seems to do , to me, is
support the oligarchies which control the fate of the materially
unimportant.
Thanks,
POOT
