Horse,
Tom Cruise received a lot of flak for his opinion that psychotherapy is
nonsense. Well, he might be the wrong messenger but the message could very
well be one that has merit. There are today in the USA about 650 different
'schools' that claim that their idea of the mind is the right one and the
others are all misguided. It reminds me a bit of religion where we see a
similar thing occuring. A gestaltist thinks his/her way is the right way; a
jungean thinks the same thing about his/her approach etc.
The brain is so incredibly complex and so far we haven't been able to come
up with even a theory of how it all works, so it is prudent to assume that
anyone who claims to have a cure to someones emotional distress might be
deceiving him or herself.
Nathan
