BO SUGGESTS RULES AND LIMITATIONS TO THE MD EXCHANGE.
Hi everyone.
There have of late reported so many new subscribers to the list - all
fine stylists and deep thinkers, that's not the problem - that the
group is in the danger of being snowed under. As the "old one" who
has been around since the Jurassic Age I take the liberty to forward
the below rules. As you will know did it all start in the fall of
1997 under the supervision of Diana McPartlin. However, the strain of
maintaining the list made her change to this new unmoderated format
some time ago. We have not been plagued by hecklers or abusers,
still, the amount of mail makes it hard to cope with so we must
discipline ourselves. Please!
(1) A limit of one message a day (24 hours). A thread among several
participants may be squeezed inside one message. This may slow
down the exchange rate, but better that than snowing under
(2) Only reproduce the parts from the original message that you
want to respond to. No jumble of "original message" at the
bottom or top.
(3) Mandatory use of the > sign in front of A L L reproduced lines
and in various numbers according to the participants'
entering the argument.
(2) Headings that indicate who it is in response to and date
of that message.
(3) No HTML except when wanting to relay a newspaper/magazine
article or something like it.
(4) Normal use of uppercase letters. The English of the Internet is
international so colloquial American styles are difficult to
follow and disturb the reading for the rest of us.
(4) No private chatting. It's OK to compliment each other
for what we like of the writings, but other things we do
extra-list.
This will be a good (zen) exercise to demonstrate that we CARE.
Best regards
Bodvar
